NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover everything he could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the negative comments from other people destroy his ambition of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil began competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing love for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
