Internet Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to make it to the closing game in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a large pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest players around the world. While competing in net poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He often plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Hansen generally buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then goes all in. I know Hansen is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is penniless, he has no reason to settle at the table with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the min takes almost all of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amount. I think tv can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest players anywhere in the world could be guys you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be seen participating in net poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in big stakes omaha/8 and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in money rounds?
